What Happened to Body & Soul Cosmetics?

Several years ago I purchased my first ‘Body & Soul’ cosmetic and I’ve been in love with the line ever since! I was first drawn in by the beautiful 1940s vintage-inspired packaging, but stayed with the line due to the amazing quality of the products. I adore the company’s pressed powder with the beautiful illustration on the top:

Oh Where, Oh Where Has Body & Soul Gone?

I used to see this great line everywhere, in departments stores, makeup stores and salons. However, something happened a few years ago and the line has disappeared! :( There is an official website for the company and also a brand page on Sephora.com, however there are no products to be found!

About a year ago I contacted the company as I was desperate for a powder refill. I inquired about the line and whether it would return to us glamour girls. I received a prompt response assuring me that the line would be once again available. I’ve been waiting ever since….patiently waiting…and waiting.

Until we see the return of these amazing products, enjoy some photos from the line:

  1. Hey, so funny you wrote this as I was going through makeup stash and I found 2 fantastic lipsticks by Body and Soul. I noticed that Sephora was not carrying the line in their NYC stores and I wanted to buy the color Casino and a WONDERFUL red lipstick, but I could not find this brand. The website is there, but nothing else. I wonder why did this brand disappear? What brand knocked them out of the running, or was it a business mishap? I hope it can come back because they had wonderful colors and I also loved the packaging.

    • It was a great line of products. I do hope they bring them back. I agree, they’d be very in style right now with the popularity of Besame, Benefit, the upcoming Mad Men line and the upcoming Marilyn Monroe MAC line. Great stuff!

  2. These were some gorgeous product. I used to love BeneFit too, but they change around too much and some of the products are not so retro and vintage anyways..I love it that this brand remained constant and original. I really hope they return!

    • Do you mean they sell this makeup at the swap meet at Aloha Stadium? Do you know the name of the seller? I’d love to contact them about shipping the Body and Soul make up… not all of us are lucky enough to live in HI! ;)

  3. B&S was the best compact powder ever. I keep trying everything on the market and can’t find anything to compare to it. It went on smooth never caked or make my skin look powdery. Great coverage. If anyone know what was in it. Please post! Hope they come back!

  4. I loved this line too, especially the packaging which is whstcdrew me to this line. I have all the brushes but only 5 shadows, 1 lipgloss & 1 blush; wante
d more & after a long search a Sephora in Canada told me the company had a fire and they could not get any more products. Later I heard that one of the creators started/or went to work for Hourglass, so I gave up hope on B&S. I don’t know how much of what I was told is true but when I googled the fire, I read there was one.

I too hope they come back with the same beautiful packaging!
